TitleComposition and seasonal variation of the bacterial community of Rhipicephalus sanguineus and Rhipicephalus turanicus ticks
Study TypeMetagenomics
Abstract In the present study we used the 16S rRNA gene approach including 454-pyrosequencing and quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) to describe Rhipicephalus turanicus bacterial community and to evaluate the dynamics of key bacterial tenants of adult ticks during the active questing season.
Description Questing ticks were collected by dragging a 1 m2 white cotton cloth over the vegetation during two consecutive years. For the purpose of describing Rh. turanicus bacterial community, 36 representative samples were sent to the Research and Testing Laboratory (Lubbock, TX, USA) for mass-sequencing ana .. [more]
