<STUDY_ABSTRACT>We performed a study of the gut microbiota of the omnivorous cockroach Blatella germanica and its variations due to different environmental and physiological conditions (diet and age). A total of 21 individuals were characterized by pyrosequencing the hyper-variable regions V1-V3 of the 16S rRNA genes of the whole gut microbial community. Three different experimental diets and two developmental time points were analyzed in lab cultured individuals. There were included three replicates for each experimental conditiion. In addition three wild cockroaches were also analyzed.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
