<STUDY_ABSTRACT>This aim of this project is to generate reference genomes for human infecting malaria parasites Plasmodium ovale and Plasmodium malariae. We generated reference genomes for two P. ovale genomes (P. ovale curtisi and P. ovale wallikeri) and P. malariae. The latter was generated with long reads (Pacific Bioscience). We obtained the P. ovale sequences from multiple infection with P. falciparum from short reads. Further we were able to generate a draft genome of a parasite similar to P. malariae that was found in a chimpanzee.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
