<STUDY_ABSTRACT>To determine microbial community composition, community spatial structure and biogeochemical processes in the shallow-sea hydrothermal vents systems offshore NE Taiwan, we examined the bacterial and archaeal communities of 8 samples collected from a high- and low-temperature hydrothermal vents fields. Ribosomal tag libraries based on DNA and RNA show statistically significant differences between the bacterial and archaeal communities with the different hydrothermal plumes.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
