      <DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>Five third instar larvae actively feeding on the heartwood of sugar maple trees were collect.  Midguts were removed and total RNA was extracted using RNeasy (Qiagen).  The sample was enriched for polyadenylated mRNAs using the polyA purist kit (Ambion).</DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>

      <DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>Five third instar larvae actively feeding on the heartwood of sugar maple trees were dissected.  Total RNA was extracted from the midgut using RNA PowerSoil Total RNA Isolation kit and the sample was depleted of mRNA using MicrobEnrich (Ambion) with custom oligos designed to deplete the sample of insect-derived 18s and 28s rRNAs and MicrobExpress (Ambion).  Library was prepared with the Illumina TruSeq RNA library kit (barcarde=GTAGAG) with 175 bp fragments.  Approximately 130 million 2 x 101 paired end reads were generated.</DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>
