      <STUDY_TYPE existing_study_type="Other"/>
      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>Here we studied three years of soil microbial communities associated with lodgepole pine and spruce needle decomposition. Soil DNA was collected across an elevation gradient of Lower Montane (2,800 meters), Lower Subalpine (3,100 meters) and Upper Subalpine (3,500 meters) and over a wide variety of climate and seasonal shifts, allowing us to contrast rewetting events.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
