<STUDY_ABSTRACT>A large number of European traditional varieties have been developed by local farmers ever since tomato was introduced to Europe from America in the 16th century. The aim of TRADITOM is to valorise the genetic diversity stored in traditional tomato varieties and to increase their resilience to foster their conservation and increase their competitiveness in the global and local market. Over 1700 varieties from several varieties have been collected and deposited in public germplasm banks. Academic scientist, companies, farmer associations, consumers have been involved in the project. Varieties have been characterized using consensus descriptors, agronomic traits, genomic and metabolomics tools.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
