<STUDY_ABSTRACT>Trypanosoma vivax is a major causative agent of animal African trypanosomiasis. Here, we used a targeted sequencing approach which enriches for transcripts containing the spliced leader sequence of Trypanosoma spp. to understand gene expression in natural infections. These sequences were obtained from RNA isolated directly from the blood of cattle infected with Trypanosoma parasites.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
