      <STUDY_TYPE existing_study_type="Other"/>
      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>Merkel cell carcinoma (MCC) is a rare neuroendocrine skin cancer with a particular incidence in elderly Caucasians; MCCs can be subdivided into two distinct subtypes: polyomavirus positive or polyomavirus negative. Here, we use comparative transcriptomics to gain an understanding of the genetic drivers behind MCC aggressiveness in these two distinct MCC subtypes.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
