<STUDY_ABSTRACT>This study collected fine roots from canopy and forest floor soils of old-growth bigleaf maple trees in Washington's (USA) temperate rainforests. The overall goal was to determine if root-associated fungal community composition was different between the two soil environments and if communities shifted spatially and seasonally. Root-associated fungal communities were sequenced on both the MinION Nanopore Sequencer and Illumina MiSeq. This dataset includes the MinION sequence data.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
