<STUDY_ABSTRACT>Melastoma is one of the genus restricted to Indian regions in the family Melastomataceae. Besides its attractive flowers and horticultural potential, the genus Melastoma is also fascinating for the species burst in the past one million years. However, the driving force for this rapid radiation remain largely unknown. To aid understanding this rapid radiaton, genome sequencing and associated comparative genomics on one representative species M. candidum were conducted.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
