<STUDY_ABSTRACT>Leishmania tropica null mutants of meiotic genes HAP2 and HOP1 were generated in MA37 parasite strain. Lutzomyia longipalpis sand flies were experimentally co-infected with L747 WT and MA37 null mutant (HOP1-KO or HAP2-2-KO) parental cell lines in pairwise combinations. Genomic hybrids were selected 7-9 days post-blood meal by double-drug selection.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
