      <DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>Total RNA was extracted using the Qiagen RNeasy Mini Kit (Qiagen, Hilden, Germany) as described by the manufacturer. The Ion Total RNA-Seq Kit v2 (ThermoFisher Scientific) was applied to the viral RNA to fragment, hybridize and ligate barcoded Ion Adaptors to the fragments. cDNA was synthesized from the ligated RNA fragments and purified using the Ion Total RNA-Seq Kit v2. The Ion PGM Template OT2 200 kit (ThermoFisher Scientific) was used to generate template-positive Ion Sphere Particles containing the enriched cDNA library with the Ion OneTouch 2 System (ThermoFisher Scientific). Sequencing of the template-positive Ion Sphere particles was carried out using the Ion PGM System (ThermoFisher Scientific).</DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>
