      <STUDY_TYPE existing_study_type="Other"/>
      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>This project recorded sequence data of soil microbial communities (prokaryotes and fungi) in research plots from Malaysian-Borneo tropical rain forests. These plots were selected from the Deramakot Forest Reserve and Tangkulap Forest Reserve, in which different juxtaposed landscapes composed a forest degradation trajectory, and samples of each plot were taken from the top soil. DNA extracted from these soil samples, and the 16S and 1TS amplicon sequencing was performed to characterize soil prokaryotic and fungal communities. The target regions of 16S and ITS were amplified using 515F-806R and ITS_F_KYO1/ITS2_KYO2. Finally, 1,859,318 and 1,951,085 reads for prokayotes and fungi were obtained respectively.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
