      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>The anaerobic butyrate-producing bacterium Butyrivibrio fibrisolvens D1T (ATCC 19171, DSM 3071, Bryant and Small, 1956) was isolated from the bovine rumen and is the type species of the genus Butyrivibrio within the family Lachnospiraceae. B. fibrisolvens D1T is able to ferment a wide range of carbohydrates including xylan, pectin and starch with the production of hydrogen, carbon dioxide, butyrate, formate and lactate.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
