      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>In this study, Bacillus coagulans DSM2314 was grown in the presence and absence of furfural. In the presence of furfural, the bacteria showed elongation, and showed an increased resistance towards furfural in future experiments. Differences in gene expression levels between cultures grown in the presence and absence of furfural was determined to find causes for elongation and increased tolerance to furfural.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
