      <DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>Starting from genomic DNA extracted using the FastDNA Spin Kit for Soil (MP Biomedical), bacteria-specifc 16S rRNA gene amplicons were generated for all 15 samples using the primer set S-D-Bact-0341-b-S/S-D-Bact-0785-a-A. PCR products were verified and quantified before being subjected to library preparation using the NEBNext Ultra DNA Library Prep Kit for Illumina (New England Biolabs). Samples were barcoded as follows: RH1_1 NEBNext Index Primer 1, RH1_2 NEBNext Index Primer 2, RH1_3 NEBNext Index Primer 3, RH2_1 NEBNext Index Primer 4, RH2_2 NEBNext Index Primer 5, RH2_3 NEBNext Index Primer 6, RH3_1 NEBNext Index Primer 7, RH3_2 NEBNext Index Primer 8, RH3_3 NEBNext Index Primer 9, RHP_1 NEBNext Index Primer 10, RHP_2 NEBNext Index Primer 11, RHP_3 NEBNext Index Primer 12, Ref 1 NEBNext Index Primer 13, Ref 2 NEBNext Index Primer 14, Ref 15 NEBNext Index Primer 15. Individual libraries were checked by high resolution gelelectrophores using a Bio-Rad Experion with DNA 12 K chips (Bio-Rad) and quantified before being pooled in an equimolar manner.</DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>
