      <STUDY_TYPE existing_study_type="Other"/>
      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>The present study investigated the response to a rewetting event of bacterial and fungal populations that were actively growing or not, at different soil depths in a plant-soil system with a history of contrasting precipitation patterns. Due to the predicted changes in precipitation patterns towards longer dry periods followed by larger magnitude rain events, this study is relevant for both agriculture and environmental health.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
