      <DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>Utilizing a transcriptomics approach, this study examines changes in global gene expression profiles before and after 6-8 weeks of fasting in NES pups, including those driven by TH. In this study, we analyzed and compared blubber transcriptomes between early- and late-fasted NES pups. Sequenced reads were assembled de novo using Trinity software. Differential expression analysis was assessed at the gene level using Salmon and DESeq2. Two-hundred and two transcripts were differentially expressed between early and late fasting in adipose biopsied from NES pups. Functional enrichment of GO and KEGG categories in the differentially expressed gene list was conducted using DAVID v6.8 with human genome as background.</DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>
