    <DESIGN>
      <DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>Fresh ripened fruits of Taishanhong pomegranate were collected. Peel and aril were extracted respectively, and were immediately frozen in liquid nitrogen. Total RNA from the peel and aril tissues was extracted using TRI Reagent according to manufacturers instructions. Paired-end cDNA libraries were generated using NEB Next Ultra RNA Library Prep Kit in three biological replicates and sequencing was done in one lane to generate 150 bp reads. RNA-Seq libraries were sequenced on an Illumina HiSeq 4000 platform.</DESIGN_DESCRIPTION>
