<STUDY_ABSTRACT>The nasuta subgroup of immigrans species group constitutes two chromosomal cross-fertile races, D. n. nasuta (2n = 8) and D. n. albomicans (2n = 6). Combinatorial crossing of different strains of these chromosomal races resulted in an assemblage of hybrids termed Cytoraces. These Cytoraces along with the parental races are referred to as the nasuta- albomicans complex (NAC) of Drosophila. The Cytoraces have crossed ~750 generations of laboratory evolution. As hybridization effects are much more pronounced in reproductive organs than the soma, we performed RNA sequencing of the adult ovaries of D. n. nasuta and D. n. albomicans and three interracial hybrids Cytorace 2, Cytorace 3, Cytorace 9 and Fissioncytorace 1.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
