<STUDY_ABSTRACT>The protozoan parasites Perkinsus spp. cause Dermo disease leading to mortalities of farmed and wild bivalve populations and hence to have important detrimental economic and ecological consequences. We performed a transcriptomic analysis of a Perkinsus marinus ATCC PRA240 pure culture, grown in the absence of a host, to aid in the understanding of the parasite's biology. RNA was extracted from a culture in mid-exponential growth phase using standard Trizol purification. RNA was subjected to ribosomal RNA depletion prior to library preparation. Sequencing was carried out by Illumina HiSeq high output (125 bp PE). ?</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
