      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>We passaged 6 lines of Pseudomonas stutzeri carrying the P. syringae megaplasmid pMPPla107 for 500 generations. This experiment was designed to assess how phenotypic costs associated with pMPPla107 could be ameliorated through evolutionary changes over time. Furthermore, P. stutzeri is not the native host to pMPPla107 thus, this experiment will also give insight into host-plasmid mutations potentially optimizing compatibility. By using these evolved sequences and comparing them to references, we can understand important genetic changes that may eliminate phenotypic costs and/or increase fitness.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
