<STUDY_ABSTRACT>Butyrate in the drinking water confers protection to C57BL/6 mice against Clostridium difficile infection. Here we present the data from the transcriptome of colonic epithelial cells from transgenic mice with a specific deletion of HIF-1a in the intestinal epithelium (Villincre+ HIF1a floxed) compared with the wild-type mice (Villincre- HIF1a floxed), both treated with butyrate, to show the relevance of this transcription factor on the protective effects of butyrate.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
