      <STUDY_TYPE existing_study_type="Other"/>
      <STUDY_ABSTRACT>This experiment aims to determine the microbial basis for the effects of probiotic treatment on the behavior of maternal immune activation ferrets. Maternal immune activation (MIA) ferrets exhibit an autism-like phenotype that is ameliorated by probiotic treatment. The goal of this study was to identify organisms that mediated this effect as a putative mechanism for this effect. This is relevant to understanding the MIA ferret model, and the effect of probiotics in humans.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
