<STUDY_ABSTRACT>The Periyar is one of longest perennial river located in southern part of India. In this study, we assess the microbial community distributed among the upstream and downstream of the river Periyar. Samples were collected from different sites and DNA was extracted to employ Illumina based next generation sequencing. The V3 hypervariable region of 16S rRNA genes were amplified and sequenced to study the microbial diversity profiling among the river.</STUDY_ABSTRACT>
