title Mutational point analysis using ICR DNA sequence data
description This data is DNA sequence data of whole genomic DNA extracted from the liver of ICR. The ICR is a genetically predisposed rat to cataracts. The purpose of this data is to identify cataract-causing mutations in the ICR. Previous studies using IER of closely related species of ICR have suggested that cataracts are caused by two recessive genes at two loci. ICR-specific mutations can be identified by aligning the DNA sequence of the ICR with that of wild-type rats, which do not develop cataracts. Ultimately, this data will help to elucidate the mechanisms of cataract development that remain to be elucidated.
