description Although many eukaryotic genome projects have been carried out with the rapid development of sequencing technology, few mushroom genomes have been sequenced so far. Also, luminous species are widely distributed across biological kingdoms, but no sequence homology among bioluminescence genes of different organisms makes it harder to elucidate novel bioluminescent genes and mechanisms. We sequenced the whole genome DNA of M. chlorophos by next-generation sequencing, and applied it to assembling draft genome and to searching bioluminescence genes to reveal fungal bioluminescent mechanisms.
