Common wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) is one of the most important cereals all in the world. For the improvement of the productivity and quality of wheat, the genomic sequence has been longing. However, the large size of the genome (approximately 17Gb/1C) and the complexity from its hexaploid status have prevented the genome sequencing of wheat. Flow sorting of single chromosome enables us to separately purify and then to shotgun-sequence a pair of telocentric chromosomes. We cunducted the survey sequencing of wheat chromosome 6B (914Mb/1C). |
