Soil fungal communities in soils amended with Brassica seed meals labeled as CAME, P and PI with different glucosinolates contents, and grown with and without chili pepper in pots for 35 days were examined using high throughput pyrosequencing approach. The total fungal abundances in these soils were also examined by qPCR. Results indicated that he total fungal abundances in incubated soils were significantly increased by CAME, P and PI amendments, but were generally decreased in the rhizosphere soils after 35-day pepper growth. The total fungal abundances in rhizosphere soils did not fully correspond to disease incidences. CAME specifically enriched Mortierellales including the genus Mortierella, whose abundances were not correlated disease incidence. P and PI specifically enriched Chaetomium, whose abundance was negatively correlated with disease incidence, and simultaneously specifically inhibited Hypocreales inclusing the geus Fusarium, whose abundances were positively correlated with disease incidence. This was the reason why P and PI exhibited good disease control efficacies in the pot experiment. Pepper growth for 35 days in pots did not substantially changed fungal communities. |
