title Comparative transcriptome analysis of the less-dormant Taiwanese pear 'Hengshanli' and the dormant Japanese pear 'TH3' during winter season
description Bud dormancy in temperate-zone deciduous fruit trees is an adaptive mechanism for surviving unfavorable conditions during winter. In autumn, buds enter endodormancy after defoliation and cessation of growth. In this state, trees cannot begin bud growth even under favorable environmental conditions. Endodormancy breaks after a specified period of sufficiently low temperatures known as the chilling requirement (CR); the required temperature and duration of which depends on the species and the cultivar. The aim of the present study was to gain an understanding of molecular mechanisms during endodormancy deepest period to ecodormancy period in pear plant. In this study, we analyzed the transcriptome of buds with same chilling exposures time in the less-dormant Taiwanese pear 'Hengshanli' and Japanese pear strain TH3 having high-CR during winter season using nextgeneration sequencing.
