Subfunctionalization of Xenopus laevis myod1 genes |
description |
The African clawed frog Xenopus laevis has experienced recent allopolyploidization, which gave rise to pairs of highly homologous genes. We examined the degree of functional overlap between the duplicated myod1 genes using over expression in Xenopus laevis followed by RNA-seq. Stage 11 embryos derived from eggs injected with synthetic mRNA of Xlmyod1-L, Xlmyod1-S and X.tropicalis myod1 together with corresponding uninjected embryos. |
