title H3K4me2 and piRNA dependent DNA methylation
description In mouse embryonic testis, piRNAs have crucial roles for de novo DNA methylation at retrotransposon regions. It has been well accepted that the the DNA methylation at retrotransposons is indispensable for proper spermatogenesis, however, it remains elusive the molecular mechanisms how piRNAs induce de novo DNA methylation at retrotransposon regions. Here, we report piRNA and its binding protein MIWI2 contributes for H3K4me2 demethylation at piRNA dependent DNA methylated regions.
