title |
RNA-seq of rat primary podocytes treated with or without puromycin aminonucleoside |
description |
Podocytes are terminally differentiated cells that function as the glomerular filtration barrier in kidney. Therefore, podocyte injury leads to serious proteinuria and podocyte leakage into urine. The administration of puromycin aminomucleoside (PAN) to rats results in massive proteinuria due to selective podocyte injury. For this reason, PAN is commonly used to induce experimental nephrotic syndrome in rats and has been used in vitro to model podocyte
injury. However, a detailed mechanism underlying PAN-induced podocyte injury has not been fully elucidated. In this study, to further elucidate this mechanism, we isolated primary rat podocytes and performed comprehensive transcriptome analysis of primary rat podocytes. |
