organism Thermosipho globiformans
title Draft genome sequence of Thermosipho globiformans strain MN14
description Thermosipho globiformans strain MN14 is a Gram-negative, heterotrophic, thermophilic bacterium isolated from a hydrothermal vent in the western Pacific Ocean. This bacterium exhibits unique cell division processes and transforms into spheroids harboring multiple cells in the periplasmic space. These facts indicate that gene compositions for cell division machinery and peptidoglycan turnover and recycling would be different from many of the well-studied bacterial model organisms. The purpose of this project is to investigate the genome content of T. globiformans. We constructed draft genome of T. globiformans using the Illumina HiSeq 2000 sequencing platform.
