title Microbial communities in carbonate nodules
description Recently, active microorganisms were discovered from methane seep-associated carbonate outcroppings on the seafloor. To further understand this unique ecological habitat, we investigated the microbial community structures in two carbonate nodules collected from a high methane flux site of a gas hydrate field off Oki islands in the Japan Sea. The nodules were collected at sulfate-methane interfaces.
