title RNA transcription in regions of the midgut of Drosophila melanogaster larvae having different pH
description The larval midgut of Drosophila melanogaster is composed of five different regions in relation to pH: the neutral gastric caeca/anterior region, the acidic region, the neutral region, the slightly acidic transitional region, and the posterior alkaline region. This study analysed the midgut transcriptome by RNAseq and shows that each region expresses a unique combination of genes, a subset of which may be involved in pH generation, or be functionally pH-dependent.
