With over 2,600 Gb of data produced, we investigated genome-wide patterns of sequence variation to describe the distribution of heterozygosity along chromosomes, measure the impact of introduction bottlenecks on diversity of European maize, to validate proposed sources of European maize and explore admixed groups that have emerged in the two continents the Corn Belt Dents and the European Flints. In addition, we also tracked footprints of selection at the gene and the gene network level to characterize the sequence changes that have sustained adaptation to a vast range of climates and usages throughout US and Europe. |
