Microsatellite analysis of Dothistroma septosporum in Scotland indicates the presence of three different 'races' which differ in their genetic diversity, distribution, host species range and frequency of mating types. The aim of this project is to use whole genome re-sequencing to obtaining complete genome sequence data both for a range of isolates of the three races, and for putative hybrid genotypes between two of these races. Comparisons between isolates of different races can be used to estimate time of divergence between the races, look for large scale genomic differences between races, and test for the possible presence of hybrid genotypes. |
