title Metabolite_transporters_and_mechanisms_of_drug_resistance_in_Leishmania_spp__and_Trypanosoma_brucei
description We will undertake Illumina sequencing of parasite lines of Leishmania mexicana, L. major, and Trypanosoma brucei that have all been adapted in vitro to the same drugs in collaboration with Harry De Koning. All drug-adapted parasites have been biochemically characterized. Comparative analysis of genetic variation between species and among 6 clones of L. mexicana with two different resistance phenotypes is expected to identify metabolite transporters and/or reveal molecular mechanisms of drug resistance. This data is part of a pre-publication release.
