It is currently well accepted in the Leishmania research community that sexual recombination occurs between promastigotes in the insect vector. Little data is available on the few hybrid parasites known from the field, so we aim to generate genomic sequence data from a number of different natural hybrid lines and from lines likely to be closely related to their parents, to investigate the evolutionary dynamics and confirm the mechanism of genetic exchange in Leishmania. This data is part of a pre-publication release. For information on the proper use of pre-publication data shared by the Wellcome Trust Sanger Institute (including details of any publication moratoria), please see http://www.sanger.ac.uk/datasharing/.The samples with accessions ERS100733, ERS419988, ERS419990, ERS419987, ERS419989 and ERS419991 have been described in the following article, Franssen SU, Durrant C, Stark O, Moser B, Downing T, Imamura H, et al. (2020). Global genome diversity of the Leishmania donovani complex. eLife 9: e51243. (https://elifesciences.org/articles/51243) and its further analysis can be freely submitted for publication.
