title | Staphylococcus aureus populations were evolved in Caenorhabditis elegans either alone or in competition with Enterococcus faecalis
description | The experiment concerned the evolution of probiosis in a C elegans infection model. We found that Enterococcus faecalis could evolve to protect against infection by Staphylococcus aureus. Here we used whole genome resequencing to test whether S aureus is able to adapt to the nematode host and to co-infection with E faecalis. The reference (ancestral) genomes were E. faecalis OGIRF (NC_017316) and S. aureus MSSA4776 (NC_002953.3).
