organism Schmidtea mediterranea
title Schmidtea mediterranea strain:BCN-10 Transcriptome or Gene expression
description Given their regenerative capacity planarians represent a perfect model to study neurogenesis, however, little is known about the processes regulating differentiation into neuronal cell lineages in these animals. The transcription factor pitx is of crucial importance for planarian regeneration and its knockdown leads to specific loss of serotonergic neurons during regeneration. To understand the role of pitx in specification and maintainance of serotonergic neurons the transcriptomes of pitx RNAi regenerating animals were sequenced and analyzed to identify differentially expressed genes.
